Customer Resiliency Solutions
SDG&E’s priorities include providing you with clean, safe, and reliable energy. We want to help prepare our customers who live in areas with a higher threat of Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) by making sure they have the resources they need when they need it.

How We Compensate you for Excess Power Generation
If you’re already enrolled in our NEM program—thank you! You’re offering us a valuable resource, and we appreciate your conservation. We always make sure you’re adequately compensated for the energy you “sell” to us. Every 12 months, we reconcile your account to review:
What you’ve purchased from the utility
Excess generation you’ve returned to the grid
Any payments or other adjustments made to your account
We call this a true-up period. At true-up, any remaining credits are also applied “backward” to any months that you may have had usage prior to having generation credits. And if the number of kWhs you returned to the grid exceeds the number of kWhs you’ve purchased, you’ll be compensated for the difference.
How We Compensate You

Energy Efficiency Third-Party Solicitations Dynamic Schedule
In an effort to improve communication on the joint IOU Solicitation Schedule, the Investor Owned Utilities (IOU)’s have worked together to provide a more detailed and predictable solicitation schedule. The new Energy Efficiency Third-Party Solicitations Dynamic Schedule provides more detail and insight into each step in the solicitation process. The IOU’s will continue to work together to update the detailed schedule on a monthly basis to…
Energy Efficiency Third-Party Solicitations
Background
SDG&E will be announcing Solicitations as directed in the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Decision 16-08-019 (Energy Efficiency Rolling Portfolio), in which a minimum of 60% of energy efficiency programs must be proposed, designed, and implemented by a third-party by 2022. The purpose of the page is to provide information, tools, and resources to potential bidders.
SDG&E Energy Efficiency Solicitation Vision
With Zero Net Energy Readiness as an organizing principle, SDG&E’s vision is to create an energy efficiency portfolio that enables customers to choose the most effective methods of achieving their energy needs.
The Solicitation Process
Stage 1: Request for Abstract (RFA)
The RFA will enable potential bidders to provide information regarding itself and its…
North Valley Substation Rebuild
and Expansion Project
Overview
This project includes construction activities at SDG&E’s existing North Valley Substation just north of College Blvd. and North River Road in the city of Oceanside. This project addresses safety, and environmental and reliability concerns within the North Valley Substation. As the regions grow, so does the need for additional energy.
The project includes:
Removal of overhead 12kV distribution lines and poles along North River Road…
Major Projects:
Providing a safe, efficient and
resilient energy system
Our commitment to providing you with safe and reliable energy means making improvements to our electric system. Our energy infrastructure projects help reduce the risk of wildfires, prevent power shutoffs and enhance power grid resilience. Other benefits include beautification of neighborhoods and easing the need for vegetation management efforts – leaving more of California’s trees untouched. This is accomplished by undergrounding overhead electric power lines, and replacing wood power poles with fire-resistant steel…
