Current Community Choice Providers

There are currently three CCAs that have been or will be serving customers within SDG&E’s service territory: Clean Energy Alliance, San Diego Community Power and Orange County Power Authority. The map below shows the areas they serve.

Clean Energy Alliance (CEA)

Background: CEA is a California Joint Powers Authority formed as a CCA to provide power to residents of the following cities:

  • Carlsbad
  • Del Mar
  • Solana Beach

Service Launch Timeline: CEA began service to its customers in May 2021. Click here to learn more.

Clean Energy Alliance

San Diego Community Power (SDCP)

Background: SDCP is a California Joint Powers Authority formed as a CCA to provide power to residents of the following cities:

  • Chula Vista
  • Encinitas
  • Imperial Beach
  • La Mesa
  • San Diego

Service Launch Timeline: SDCP began service to municipal customers in March 2021 and business customers in June 2021.

For Residential customers, SDCP started service in February 2022 and will continue to transition customers through May 2022. Net Energy Metering (NEM) or Solar customers will transition during your annual true-up month. Click here for a detailed video from SDCP regarding the transition.

Orange County Power Authority (OCPA)

Background: OCPA is a California Joint Powers Authority formed as a CCA to provide power to both SDG&E and Southern California Edison (SCE) customers in the following areas:

  • Buena Park (SCE)
  • Fullerton (SCE)
  • Huntington Beach (SCE)
  • Irvine (SCE)
  • Unincorporated areas of Orange County (SDG&E)

Service Launch Timeline: OCPA will begin service to SCE customers in 2022.

In 2023, SDG&E customers in the unincorporated areas of Orange County will begin service with OCPA.
