Get Rewarded for Saving Energy
with the Capacity Bidding Program
Choose how much your business can commit to reducing energy usage on Capacity Bidding Program (CBP) events. If you meet your nomination, you’ll be helping ease strain on the electrical grid when demand is high, prevent power outages, protect the environment and more—all while earning incentives.
How It Works
Your business can make a monthly pledge to reduce your energy use and save. When electric supplies are expected to be low, we’ll call on you to reduce your consumption by the amount you pledged at the beginning of the previous month. If your pledge goal is met, you’ll receive an incentive for performance on top of your monthly pledge incentive.
During the months of May through October an activation may occur, but the program is promoted year-round. To be prepared for an activation you can sign up to receive notifications based on the way that you choose to participate in the program. With our Day-Ahead Option you get a notification to reduce energy by 5 p.m. the day prior to the event and with the Day – Of Option you get a notification to reduce energy 40 minutes prior to the start of the event.
The Capacity Bidding Program (CBP) is managed by aggregators including customer acquisition, marketing sales, retention, support and event notification tactics. Even with numerous aggregators already participating in CBP, enrollment is open for new aggregators.
Please Note: In 2022, there will be six elect options added to the existing Capacity Bidding Program. The elect options will allow you to decide your participation based upon your own comfortable level of event frequency. The Elect options will be available for the time frame of 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. only. Check back for more details.
