Lynne P

Being good to our Mother Earth has always been important to me. I was one of the first enrollees. I noticed my bill was lower. I’m just one person. Imagine if every person made (even small!) eco-conscious decisions like enrolling in EcoChoice.

Josh D

As a renter, I didn’t have many options to equip my home with renewable energy. I knew it was a no-brainer to allocate 100% of my electricity to cleaner energy sources. This program provides the perfect opportunity to support the clean energy movement.
  Josh D

Kelia

EcoChoice was the easiest decision to make – I save money on my electricity bill every month. I'm thrilled that SDG&E offers smarter energy sourcing so that renters like me have a better option that supports the transition to clean energy.

Steven J

As a relatively early adopter of electric vehicle technology, I am always on the lookout for new ways to combat climate change through my eco-friendly lifestyle. Signing up for EcoChoice was a natural extension of the other steps I had already taken to go green.

Sustainability and transparency have always been at the heart of JuneShine. We donate 1% of all revenue to 1% For the Planet nonprofits. We’re on a path to eliminating plastic in our brewery and we plant trees to replace those that are used to make our six-pack cartons. And now we’ll source 100% of our electricity from renewable solar sources for both of our San Diego breweries because of EcoChoice.

HOW IT WORKS

How It Works

Allocate from 50% to 100% of your electricity to renewable energy when you sign up for EcoChoice®. The amount you pay depends on the % amount of renewable energy you select for each month. For example, a residential customer choosing 100% renewable energy, using an average of 500 kWh a month, saves about $2.50 on their monthly bill. When you enroll, we buy renewable energy from generating facilities  built specifically for EcoChoice. Find out where our solar energy comes from with our EcoChoice Interim Pool of Energy Sources.

EcoChoice is Green-e Energy certified and meets the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the non-profit Center for Resource Solutions. Learn more at www.green-e.org.Energycertified

Eligibility Requirements: Customers currently on a distributed generation rate such as Net Energy Metering (NEM), a pilot rate, or participating in Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) or Direct Access (DA) are not eligible to participate in EcoChoice. Additionally, participating EcoChoice customers will experience reduced functionality in their MyAccount platform. If you meet the eligibility requirements, enrolling is as simple as 1 – 2 – 3!

Step 1

Determine what percentage of your electricity you would like to allocate to renewable sources. You can get an estimate of your potential costs or credits using our Cost Calculator.

Step 2

Review the program price, terms and conditions in our Welcome Info section. You have 60 days to "try" the program before you commit to the one-year agreement. If you cancel your participation after the 60-day period has expired, a termination fee will apply. However, after you have been enrolled in EcoChoice for one year, you may cancel at any time without penalty.

Step 3

When you enroll, have your SDG&E account number ready for completion of the Online Application.
