Who is this option for?
EcoChoice and EcoShare are great options if you want more renewable energy, but don’t own your home, can’t afford the upfront costs of solar or don’t have the ability to put solar panels on your roof.
Customers who want to contribute directly to the growth of renewable energy in our region.
How do these options work?
These programs allow you to purchase renewable energy without installing solar panels at your home. You can support the environment and promote the growth of renewable energy in our region with no upfront installation costs.
Here are the two plans at-a-glance:
EcoChoice: SDG&E buys renewable energy on your behalf from generating facilities designated for EcoChoice facilities. You can get 50% to 100% of your electricity from these sources. EcoChoice may soon be a credit on your bill. The best part is for many customers, there's no additional cost. Learn more about how the plan works.
EcoShare: You work directly with third-party renewable energy developers to purchase the rights to energy generated from a new renewable energy facility. You will work directly with the developer to set the price and terms. Get the details.
