Pricing Plans FAQs
To change your pricing plan:
- Log into My Energy Center
- Click on the Billing dropdown menu at the top of the page
- Select “Pricing Plans”
- Scroll to the bottom to view all eligible pricing plans
- Click “Enroll” next to the plan you wish to select
Note: Most pricing plans require a 12-month commitment. If you've changed plans within the last 12 months, you won't see the option to enroll in a new plan.
You can change your pricing plan once every 12 months for most plans.
To find the best pricing plan for your household's energy usage, use the pricing plan comparison tool in My Energy Center. This tool provides a personalized recommendation based on your usage history. You can compare up to three plans at once and see estimated annual and monthly cost breakdowns to help you make an informed decision about which plan is best for you.
There are a few reasons why you may not see the pricing plan comparison tool in My Energy Center:
- If you've recently moved or installed solar, there may not be enough historical usage data to provide accurate recommendations. Once your account has been active for 12 months, you should see this option.
- If your account is only eligible for the current plan you're on, the option to compare or enroll in a new plan won't be available.
To find your current pricing plan:
- On your bill: Look for "Rate" under the "Electric Service" section on your bill. For example, your plan may look something like: "Rate: Time of Use – TOU DR1 – Residential."
- In My Energy Center: Log into My Energy Center. Click on the Billing dropdown menu at the top of the page and select “Pricing Plans.”
On-peak, off-peak, and super off-peak refer to the different times of day when electricity pricing varies based on demand.
- On-Peak: This period is from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. when demand is highest and when electricity is priced the highest.
- Off-Peak: This period has lower demand and lower prices compared to on-peak times.
- Super Off-Peak: This is the period with the lowest demand and the lowest prices.
TOU: Time-of-use
DR: Domestic rate
EV: Electric vehicle
Example: TOU-DR1 means time-of-use domestic rate 1.
EV Pricing Plans FAQs
If you own or lease an EV and have a Level 1 or Level 2 charging station installed at your home, follow these steps to enroll in an EV plan that best suits your household and lifestyle:
- Log into My Energy Center
- Click on the Billing dropdown menu at the top of the page
- Select “Pricing Plans”
- Scroll to Best Plans for You and click “Edit Survey”
- Answer the survey questions
- Once the survey is complete, click “Enroll” next to the EV plan you wish to select
While EV charging will raise your monthly electricity bill, this bill increase will typically cost less than the monthly cost to fuel a standard gasoline vehicle.
Your monthly bill’s total electric charges depend on the following factors: your monthly electricity usage, which pricing plan you’re enrolled in, and how often and what time you charge your EV every day. To maximize your savings, choose an EV pricing plan — which has lower charging costs during evening, night and morning hours. Then schedule your electricity use accordingly.
You can also use our Savings Calculator to view an estimate of your potential home charging costs with an EV compared to your current costs with a standard gasoline vehicle.
Depending on weather, the solar energy system’s efficiency, when the solar energy system was installed and other factors, electricity generated from a solar energy system could help offset the costs of EV charging.
