*Reduce Your Use (RYU) event days may be called when energy use and demand on the grid are high. The RYU Event Period Adder ($1.16) is an additional charge that will be billed to customers from 4 p.m. - 9 p.m. during an RYU event day. The RYU Event Period Adder is not applicable during non-RYU event days. On this plan it is important to make sure your contact information in My Account is up to date by reviewing the information under your profile. We’ll send you alert notifications, so you know when to conserve if a Reduce Your Use event day is called. Up to 18 events can be called per year. If called, you’ll be asked to conserve energy between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. when demand for energy and pricing is the highest. This plan is available for SDG&E delivery and generation customers.

Customers may participate in other utility demand response programs unless explicitly prohibited by the program tariff. Additionally, a customer cannot receive an incentive payment from a demand response program and pricing for the same energy conservation time-period.

FAQs

To enroll in an EV pricing plan, purchase or lease an EV and then decide whether you want to use a Level 1 charger or install a Level 2 charging station at your home. Once your home charger is ready, log in to My Account to view and enroll in an EV pricing plan best suited for your household and lifestyle preferences.

While EV charging will raise your monthly electricity bill, this bill increase will typically cost less than the monthly cost to fuel a standard gasoline vehicle.

Your monthly bill’s total electric charges depend on the following factors: your monthly electricity usage, which pricing plan you’re enrolled in, and how often and what time you charge your EV every day. To maximize your savings, choose an EV pricing plan — which has lower charging costs during evening, night and morning hours. Then schedule your electricity use accordingly.

You can also use our Savings Calculator to view an estimate of your potential home charging costs with an EV compared to your current costs with a standard gasoline vehicle.

Depending on weather, the solar energy system’s efficiency, when the solar energy system was installed and other factors, electricity generated from a solar energy system could help offset the costs of EV charging.

View our Net Energy Metering (NEM) page to learn more about solar energy generation.
