-
Efficiency First
Before deciding whether to install a renewable system, fix any energy efficiency gaps in your home or small business. There are so many easy (and even free!) ways to optimize. Once you do, you may need a much smaller system than you think, or even none at all.
-
Pick Your System
Once you optimize, it’ll be easier to determine which type and size of system is best for your home. You can use the online calculator tools at California Solar Initiative to help you understand what size renewable system you need, and how much it will cost to buy and install.
-
Hire a Contractor
Now you’ll need to find a qualified contractor. It’s important to understand what to look for and know your rights. An experienced installer will also often help guide you through the paperwork and process, and get you interconnected to the grid.
- Install & Connect
Your contractor can often take care of your permits and inspections, work with us to get your application in, and get your “Permission to Operate” (PTO) to activate your account for Net Energy Metering (NEM).
