How We Energize the San Diego Economy

One of the most important ways we support San Diego is with jobs. In total, we employee more than 5,000 employees, contractors, and interns.

SDG&E also bolsters the local economy with support for community colleges, chambers of commerce, economic development corporations, workforce development organizations, and other non-profits that assistance to help smaller local businesses create and retain jobs. When these businesses succeed, we all succeed.

Here are a few of the agencies we work with:

Accion San Diego creates economic opportunity for primarily lower-income business owners who lack access to traditional sources of credit. SDG&E supports Accion’s technical assistance program that strengthen the financial organization of emerging entrepreneurs, helping them thrive in their neighborhood communities.

Over 20 years, San Diego LISC has helped build over 5,000 affordable and safe homes for almost 19,000 residents from Oceanside to San Ysidro.

SDG&E supports  LISC’s Financial Opportunities Centers (FOCs), which are neighborhood-based personal financial empowerment centers that offer employment and career services, financial education and coaching, and low-cost financial products to encourage investment and savings.
