Payment Arrangement Options

We offer the following options to help you pay your bill.

  • Payment Extension: Extend your bill’s due date to give yourself more time to pay.
  • Payment Plan: Split your bill payments over time with monthly installments. A down payment may be required.
Each month, your current charges plus your installment amount must be paid by your bill due date.

When you set up a payment arrangement, you commit to making a payment by a specific date. There are no fees or interest associated with either payment arrangement option.

Eligibility for Payment Arrangements

Most residential and business accounts are eligible for payment arrangements.

An account may not be eligible for one of the following reasons:

  • Exceeded maximum allowed broken or canceled arrangements
  • Enrollment on a different payment arrangement or plan
  • Closed account

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, your CCA or ESP charges are included any time you set up a payment arrangement.

Payment arrangements can be canceled or changed at any time.

  • To cancel your payment arrangement, go to My Account and click or tap the Cancel button
  • To change your payment arrangement, go to My Account and click or tap Cancel. Then click or tap Enroll to select a new payment arrangement option.

Please keep in mind the following:

  • If you cancel your payment arrangement, it may impact your options if you decide to set up another payment arrangement. Plans vary and are based on current eligibility requirements.
  • If you cancel your payment arrangement, your account balance will become due, and you will be at risk for disconnection.
  • If you are on Auto Pay and have a past-due balance, the past-due balance will be automatically deducted and paid immediately.

If you pay more than the monthly amount due, your account will have a credit balance. We will automatically apply the credit balance toward your subsequent bills.

If the remaining installment plan amount, including any current charges due, is paid early, the plan will be deemed fully paid, and no further installments will be billed.

  • An account can only have one payment arrangement at a time.
  • If you need to change your payment arrangement, go to My Account and click or tap Cancel. Then click or tap Enroll to select a new payment arrangement option. Plans offered may vary based on current eligibility requirements.
  • If you have multiple accounts, you can set up a payment arrangement for each separate account.

If the payment(s) made by the bill due date is less than the required amount, it will be counted as a missed payment.

  • For Residential 24-Month installment plans only: You are allowed up to 2 missed payments over the period of the plan. On the 3rd missed payment, your plan will automatically be canceled.

  • For all other payment plans: If you miss a payment, your plan will automatically be canceled.

If your plan is canceled, your full amount will become due immediately and your service may be subject to disconnection.

Payment Extensions

If you fail to pay the amount promised by your extension date or your payment is returned by your bank, your full amount will become due immediately and your service may be subject to disconnection.

Payment Plans

A missed payment is any payment that is:

  • Received after your bill due date

  • Less than the amount due on your monthly bill

  • Returned by your bank

For Residential 24-Month Payment Plans only:  If you miss a payment, SDG&E will recalculate your payment plan.  Your remaining installment amounts may increase. On the third missed payment, SDG&E will automatically cancel your payment plan.  If your plan is canceled, your full amount will become due immediately and your service may be subject to disconnection.

For all other Payment Plans: If you miss a payment, SDG&E will automatically cancel your payment plan.  If your plan is canceled, your full amount will become due immediately and your service may be subject to disconnection.

  • If you enrolled in a 24-month payment plan, you consented to receive Billing & Account Updates, including missed payment notifications via text.
