If you’re looking to make energy-efficient home improvements, you may want to consider the “Energy Loan” from Fannie Mae. This loan was developed to provide homeowners with an unsecured financing option – from $2,500 to $20,000 – for specified energy-efficient home improvements.
Your home’s lighting can account for as much as 20% of your annual energy costs. To help reduce your energy use, consider installing energy-efficient light bulbs and fixtures. Special discount prices on specific ENERGY STAR®-labeled lighting products are periodically available at participating retailers throughout the year.

Get a rebate of up to $135 when you buy a high-efficiency clothes washer (HEW). Compared to standard top-loading models, HEWs
The Metropolitan Water District operates this program on behalf of the Water Authority, its member agencies, and San Diego Gas & Electric. HEWs must be from the list of approved models with a water efficiency factor of 5.0 or less.

The consumer tax credits for energy-efficiency home improvements have been revised for the calendar year 2009. To be eligible, most qualifying products must be purchased and installed between January 1 and December 31, 2009. There also are some new eligible products.
