The Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA) program can help you save money on your electric bill every month. If your income is a bit higher than the limit for the CARE program, you may still qualify for FERA.

Renewals and Verifications
When it is time to renew your enrollment in the program (every 2-4 years), or it’s been requested that you verify your eligibility, you will receive a letter in the mail from us requesting verification of your income. You’ll need to complete this verification to continue receiving your monthly bill discount. If we don’t receive your information by the date listed in the letter, your discount will end.

- If you apply to the FERA program as an individual, your name and address must be your primary residence. This does not apply to group homes.
- If at any point you no longer qualify for the program, you must notify SDG&E.
- If you apply, you cannot be claimed on another person’s income tax return other than your spouse or domestic partner.
- Income is defined as total and current household income* for all persons living in your home, before deductions. You may be asked to verify your income.
- You will need to renew or re-enroll in the program when requested.
*Total household income is all taxable and non-taxable revenues, from all household members. Income would include, but is not limited to:
