Water efficiency programs for business

Looking for ways to cut down on water use? The San Diego County Water Authority’s (SDCWA) WaterSmart program offers numerous incentives to help businesses achieve water savings through assessments, device retrofits and water-efficient landscape practices. The Water Savings Incentive Program, for example, offers financial incentives for industrial high-efficiency equipment, agricultural and landscape water-efficiency improvements and more. Get the details at

SDCWA also offers SCOOP, a small contractor outreach and opportunities program. SCOOP facilitates the development and reinforcement of skill sets that small businesses need to partner, bid, and perform successfully on Water Authority projects.

Fire Season – Are you prepared?

With the longer days and warmer weather, many San Diegans welcome the change of season. Although summer time can be fun, let’s not forget how dangerous elevated temperatures can be. Moisture, high heat and wind tend to the perfect recipe for fire season. Are you prepared to protect your facility?

Remember, not all fires are created equally and must be addressed differently. To ensure your business is protected and equipped with the proper extinguisher, follow the guidelines below:

CLASS A (required for ordinary combustibles): paper, wood, rubber, plastic, cloth and similar textiles

CLASS B (required for flammable liquids): gasoline, solvents, grease, lacquers and oil-based paints

CLASS C (required for electrical equipment): wiring, fuse boxes, computers, and electrical equipment

Planning and preparation is key! SDG&E offers fire safety tips online. You may also visit for more tips on how you can better protect your facility during the fire season.
