SDG&E's Business Energy Solutions (formerly Direct Install program) Successfully Launched - July 1

The new and improved program includes an expanded product catalog and services for more eligible businesses. The program also serves as a one-stop-shop  for their energy-efficiency needs. Here’s what’s new:

  • All projects start with an ASHRAE Level 1+ energy audit at no-cost to make sure that every improvement opportunity is explained.
  • About 230 products covering various technologies (from LED lighting to kitchen equipment) are available through the program.
  • About 75 products will be offered to eligible businesses at no-cost. The remaining 155 products will require a co-pay ranging from 20% to 99%.
  • Eligible businesses can apply for On-Bill Financing to cover the co-pay portion of their projects.
  • Newly added measures will have an incentive level equivalent to the rebate level in our Energy-Efficiency Rebate Program.

Who is eligible?

  • Businesses whose monthly electrical demand does not exceed 200kW during the most recent
    12-month period.
  • Eligibility is based on the “premise” or location of the business. Electricity demand from accounts that belong to the same business customer within the same premise will be aggregated.

Who are the program contractors?

  • Through a competitive bid process, SDG&E selected Matrix Energy Services, Willdan Energy Solutions and Staples Energy to implement SDG&E's Business Energy Solutions program.
  • Each contractor will work with eligible businesses within their assigned area.

What this means to you?

  • Be familiar with the measures currently offered through our Rebate program, as most of those measures will become available through SDG&E's Business Energy Solutions program.
  • Qualified customers participating in our Rebate and/or On-Bill Financing Programs may be informed regarding those measures that are available to them at a lower cost through SDG&E's Business Energy Solutions program.
  • We encourage you to know and understand all of our programs so you can recommend the best
    option to a business.

  • To offer more comprehensive solutions to customers based on feedback from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC).
  • To offer a one-stop-shop experience for eligible small and mid-sized businesses to address all of their energy- efficiency needs.
