Our Commitment to Climate Goals

Building for a better future

Building for a Better Future Every Day

California is widely known for bold climate policies. And utilities like SDG&E play an important role in helping the state meet its goals by ensuring the power grid can handle 100% clean electricity by 2045 and charge millions of electric vehicles in the future.   That means more investments in the electric grid will be needed to ensure reliability and climate resiliency.

SDG&E has also set ambitious targets for clean energy, and we aim to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2045.

In addition, Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive order allowing only the sale of zero-emissions passenger vehicles starting in 2035 and commercial trucks and vans starting in 2045. These efforts continue to cement California’s position as a global climate pioneer. And at SDG&E we’re proud to play a critical role in accomplishing these climate goals.

Our Commitment to Achieve Net Zero By 2045

We aim to remove as many GHG emissions from the atmosphere as we produce. Our commitment goes beyond reducing our own emissions and includes tackling those generated by our customers’ energy use.
