Going to bat for… USO San Diego
With more than 100,000 active duty service members, veterans and military families that make their home in the San Diego area, our community’s ties to the Military are one of the region’s defining characteristics.
Providing this population with services and programs to boost morale, stay connected while away from home and meet basic living needs is an enormous undertaking—one which USO San Diego has been tackling head on since 1941.
Texting for a cause
For the past 75 years, USO San Diego has been an invaluable source of support for uniformed personnel and families living in and traveling through San Diego. Between weekly dinners, the Annual Santa Store, the Marine Corps Trials for Wounded Warriors and much more, USO San Diego serves hundreds of thousands of troops and their families annually.
As part of San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E’s) season-long partnership with the San Diego Padres—Going to Bat for San Diego—fans have the opportunity to support USO San Diego and the vital services they provide by simply sending a text.
Fans attending the Padres’ Labor Day game at Petco Park had the chance to make a $5 donation to take their picture with Padres players Luis Perdomo and Luis Sardinas before the first pitch. Fans in the stands and watching from home could text USOSD to 20222 to make a $10 donation in support of USO San Diego throughout the week of September 5. SDG&E will match fan donations up to $10,000 at the end of the season.
