Oceanside to Fallbrook Alignment
TL 694 Wood-to-Steel Project

Proyecto Del Mar

Vista general

Our commitment to providing clean, safe and reliable energy means making improvements to our system, including fire hardening electrical equipment to make the system more resilient in the communities we serve. The Oceanside to Fallbrook Transmission Line (TL) 694 fire-hardening project will enhance the reliability of electrical power in the Tier 2 High-Fire Threat District (HFTD) area. Additionally, new transmission hardware and conductor will be installed. The fire-hardening project will replace approximately 77 wood and distribution structures and replace them with new, safer fire-resistant steel poles.

As part of our Community Fire Safety Program, this project includes dependability and protection measures that help improve the resilience of our electrical system during high- fire-risk weather conditions. This will enhance the reliability of the electric power to the community and surrounding areas to help ensure that it meets the load growth of the area.

Proyecto Del Mar Beneficios del proyecto

Beneficios del proyecto

  • Enhanced safety and reliability to Oceanside/Fallbrook and surrounding communities during extreme weather conditions
  • Removal of approximately 77 wood transmission and distribution structures and replaced with new top equipment hardware and conductor
  • Reducción de costes e impactos ambientales
  • Reduction in potential future maintenance and power outage costs

SOBRE EL PROYECTO

The scope of work includes replacing 69 kV transmission and 12 kV distribution structures, including all wood facilities within the High Fire Threat District (HFTD) Zone 2, to enhance fire resilience and system reliability. Underbuilt distribution facilities will also be upgraded to meet current standards and improve overall system performance. Additional equipment improvements include replacing existing arms, conductors, anchors, switches, fuses and transformers. Approximately five miles of new high-temperature, low-sag conductor will be installed. Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) with fiber for telecommunication purposes will be added to all the new structures, providing lightning protection and increased system reliability.

Multiple construction activities may take place simultaneously, which could impact traffic and noise levels. Some locations will require the use of helicopters to transport hardware, equipment and crew members to specific work areas. We’ll monitor the work hours, traffic control measures and noise restrictions established by local authorities.
