Por qué participamos en la electrificación del transporte
La misión de nuestra empresa es convertirnos en la compañía de infraestructura energética más limpia, segura y confiable de Estados Unidos. Una parte fundamental para cumplir con el objetivo de lograr la sostenibilidad es facilitar la transición a vehículos y equipos de cero emisiones (ZEV).
Tanto a nivel regional como estatal, el sector del transporte es la principal fuente de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero, un factor clave del cambio climático y una importante fuente de contaminación atmosférica. Para abordar este problema, California se ha fijado el objetivo de contar con cinco millones de vehículos de cero emisiones en circulación para 2030 y eliminar gradualmente la venta de automóviles nuevos a gasolina para 2035.
Para posibilitar esta transición, hemos estado trabajando para expandir agresivamente la infraestructura de carga en nuestra región para admitir automóviles, autobuses, camiones, lanzaderas y más, al mismo tiempo que mejoramos nuestra propia flota de la empresa para reducir las emisiones.
Los objetivos de nuestra flota de vehículos son:
- Electrify 100% of our light-duty fleet and transition 30% of our overall fleet to zero-emission vehicles by 2030
- Operar una flota 100% libre de emisiones para 2035.

This program will help build the charging infrastructure needed to electrify a minimum of 3,000 trucks, buses, forklifts and other medium-duty and heavy-duty electric vehicles/equipment at 300 sites. Customers can choose to own/maintain charging stations themselves or have SDG&E assume ownership and maintenance responsibilities. This program will bring 196 chargers to 30 school sites and 140 chargers to 22 park and beach sites. These locations will include some of the most frequented community facilities in the region such as parks, beaches and schools to accommodate existing electric vehicle (EV) drivers and encourage EV adoption. Power Your Drive for Workplaces

To meet the requirements of Senate Bill 350 (the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act), we implemented six pilot projects to accelerate the transition of transportation electrification and expand the charging infrastructure in our region.

Port and airport electrification

Fleet delivery trucks

Park & Ride lots along highways
88 chargers, including DC fast chargers — the fastest chargers available — have been installed at four public Caltrans Park & Ride locations. Learn more about the opening of these locations aquí. -
Green shuttles
12 charging stations at four locations to support shuttles running on fixed routes. -
Dealership EV Education/Incentive Programs
Educational programs and financial incentives for 15 local dealerships to help grow the sales of EVs in the region. -

DMV Registration Information
SDG&E has requested the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to provide EV registration information for our service area as allowed by California Vehicle Code - VEH § 1808.23. This information will be used to ensure sufficient infrastructure to support current and future EV charging needs.
Preguntas frecuentes
The State of California vehicle code allows SDG&E to request and use the information only for the purpose of identifying where an EV is registered. The DMV does not disclose the name of the EV owner. The disclosure shall not contain marketing information or a solicitation for the purchase of goods or services. SDG&E will not sell, share, or further disclose, including to any subsidiaries, the residence address or type of vehicle information obtained.
SDG&E plans to use this information to identify where EVs are registered, which will help support the following:

• Forecast electric supply needs to serve the new electrical loads
• Identify patterns of EV adoption for different customer segments and develop programs to serve those customers and help customers maximize the value of their EVs
Per the DMV, any information obtained from the Department's files will be securely destroyed upon the completion of its approved use and/or purpose, in compliance with State law.
To better serve our customers we must understand where EV load will appear on the system to inform grid planning. We rely on state forecasts but require more visibility over where vehicles are registered and charging. This EV registration data will inform the development of SDG&E’s electric supply and distribution planning.
