Important New Fumigation Regulations
As part of our commitment to provide safe and reliable service, SDG&E will shut-off your gas service prior to the fumigation of your home or business, as well as turn your gas service back on afterward.
General Order 112-E
Under the regulations of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), General Order 112-E, only SDG&E or its certified contractors are authorized to operate the gas service shut-off valve.
Service Shut-Off And Turn-On Services
Fumigation contractors are not authorized to perform these services. We will provide all gas service shut-off and turn-on services at no cost to you.
- Gas service shut-off and turn-on orders can be scheduled by contacting SDG&E.
- You or your fumigation contractor must call two (2) business days prior to have the gas service shut-off. Your fumigation contractor will provide the information you will need when scheduling your service order. Make sure to inform the Customer Service Representative that the gas service shut-off is for a tented fumigation job.
- You must schedule turn-on orders with SDG&E. Advance notice of one business day is required. We will attempt to set up an appointment with a four-hour time frame (to be determined by the current schedule availability).
- Your gas service cannot be turned back on the same day the tent is removed. Gas service turn-on orders are scheduled no sooner than the next day after the tent has been removed.
- You must provide SDG&E with certification from your fumigation contractor that it is safe to re-enter the building. This is called a “Certification for Re-Entry."
Appliance Inspection And Adjustment
SDG&E will inspect and adjust all appliances for safety and efficiency as part of the turn-on service.
