Before connecting your portable electric generator, call us at
1-800-411-SDGE (7343). State law requires that you notify us if
you will be using a generator.
During an outage you may want to use a small generator
for electricity. For safety, if you own a generator, never
plug it into any electric outlet in your home.
This could create electric feedback and cause serious injuries
or possibly kill SDG&E
crews working to restore your power. Instead, plug appliances directly
into the generator.
