For those who enjoy having holiday lights on and around their homes, LED lighting can provide significant energy savings and increased safety this holiday season.
SDG&E is once again offering no cost LED holiday lights in exchange for your old incandescent holiday light strands. At our holiday lighting events, you can:
When you attend an LED holiday lighting exchange event, you'll receive a complimentary Home Energy & Water Savings Kit and an eco-friendly reusable shopping bag! The kit includes a low-flow showerhead and three faucet aerators.
LED holiday lights can save you a lot of energy and money when compared to traditional incandescent holiday lights.
LED holiday lights are also cool to the touch (a reduced fire hazard), making them safer for you and your family. LED lights shine brighter and last up to 100 times longer than incandescent lights, and they can cost up to 90% less to run!
Step 1: Find an event in your area.
Step 2: Check to see which types of lighting are available for exchange at your selected event. Details are available on the lighting exchange calendar.
- You may bring up to three incandescent holiday light strands.
- At select events, you may also exchange up to five incandescent light bulbs and/or two halogen lamps.
Step 3: Fill out an application.

- Present a valid California ID and/or a copy of your SDG&E bill (for identification purposes only).
Please bring a valid California ID and/or a copy of your current SDG&E bill with you to the event. Lighting offer is limited to three incandescent holiday light strands, five CFLs, two lamps, and one home energy & water savings kit per household per year.
