Financial assistance programs that are offered to SDG&E customers.
Not all customers qualify for SDG&E’s income-based assistance programs like CARE, FERA or Energy Team.
However, there are other options available that can provide funds for customers experiencing hardship.
Temporary Energy Assistance for Families (TEAF) is a one-time payment program sponsored by SDG&E and administered by The Salvation Army.
The TEAF program may be able to provide a one time bill credit up to $1500. Qualified applicants will be served on a first-come, first-served basis until program funds are no longer available or until September 21, 2010.
The Neighbor-to-Neighbor Fund provides customers with assistance of up to $200 towards their SDG&E bill.
It is available to qualified customers who are experiencing temporary financial hardship and who are not eligible for state or federal assistance.
211 San Diego will refer customers directly to participating agencies. All inquiries should be made directly with them.
Customers eligible for government assistance must apply for energy assistance under those programs before being considered for Neighbor-to-Neighbor assistance. The program is funded by SDG&E customers, employees and shareholders of Sempra Energy.
LIHEAP is a federally funded assistance program administered by the California Department of Community Services and Development (CSD). LIHEAP offers two types of assistance.
Appointed community-based agencies process LIHEAP applications for SDG&E's customers. Priority is given to families who meet the following criteria.
Please contact 211 for LIHEAP income guidelines and referral to participating agencies.
