SDG&E's Request To Move The CAISO’s Balancing Authority Area

Information Transferred: San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E) has requested the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) to move the CAISO's Balancing Authority Area boundary out to include the El Dorado generation station, the adjacent substation and the 230 kV transmission line extending to Southern California Edison’s (SCE) El Dorado substation located approximately one mile from the El Dorado generation station.  SDG&E's acquisition of these facilities will take place by October 1, 2011.  The acquisition transaction of the El Dorado generating station has been approved both by the CPUC and by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
