With our houses and buildings full of computers and other key electronics, it’s important to take the steps to protect your equipment from power outages.
Surge protectors are the first step. But in case of a power outage, following are other steps you may want to take:
Install sensors to shut off the power supply if there are extreme power fluctuations.
Unplug equipment or shut off the circuit breaker until the power is restored. We suggest leaving one light on so you will know when power has been restored.
Once the power has been restored for about ten minutes, turn your equipment back on in stages so that you don’t overload the circuit
Try to keep your refrigerator and freezer doors closed for as long as possible to keep contents fresh. If your power is out for longer than a couple of hours, consider using dry ice to maintain your perishables.
