We're proud to lead the effort that brought other employers, university, and community together to fund California’s first Summer Engineering Experience for Kids (SEEK) Camp.
For three weeks, 180 local third-through-fifth-graders attended a free summer camp on the San Diego State University campus learning how to build sailboats, fly jets and drive steel-can rovers.
The students made toy-size models and, in the process, got hands-on experience with key math and science concepts and maybe even sparked an idea for a future career.
From its inception, the National Society of Black Engineers' SEEK program quickly established itself as the largest STEM program for African American children and mentors in the nation! SEEK is designed to be a fun and engaging educational experience, led by NSBE engineering students and technical professionals dedicated to pursuing professional excellence and giving back to the community.
SEEK uilizes a hands-on design curriculum developed by SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers). Campers will work in teams, using their knowledge to solve problems and create products while discovering the underlying math and science principles involved in these processes.
