All San Diego County high school students are invited to attend the Green Students 2013 Youth Forum, taking place on March 23 at SDG&E’s Energy Innovation Center.

The free event will feature interactive sustainability and energy efficiency workshops. It takes place on Saturday, March 23, from 9 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.  Speakers include Mayor Bob Filner, San Diego City Council President Todd Gloria, Council President Pro Tem Sherri Lightner, Council Member Marti Emerald, and Council Member Mark Kersey.

In addition to fun and educational workshops, students will have the opportunity to listen to nationally known speaker Jordan Howard. At only 20 years old, Jordan has won many prestigious awards for her work in developing youth programs across the nation and has even opened for Hilary Clinton at fundraisers for President Obama. A sustainable lunch will be provided by regionally acclaimed, Chef Yapo. Chef Yapo’s Kitchen 360 concept will encourage students to see the value in buying local, benefits of gardening and composting, and proving eating sustainable does not mean sacrificing taste and quality in any meal.

This event is coordinated by the City of San Diego with support from SDG&E’s Local Government Partnerships program.
