Chula Vista Businesses Succeed in Green Business Challenge

Category:
Community, Environmental

Last year the City of Chula Vista challenged its local businesses to participate in the City's "Green Business Challenge." SDG&E has worked closely with the City of Chula Vista and supported this effort through SDG&E’s Local Government Partnerships program. With direction from a City sustainability coach, 50 businesses met the challenge through improved energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, and pollution prevention. Specifically, these businesses installed occupancy sensors, switched to rechargeable batteries, installed auto shut-off faucets, and developed a recycling policy.

Eleven businesses were recognized at a recent ceremony as outstanding award recipients in the 2012 challenge. These included Allied Waste Services, Bonita Point 76, EastLake Tavern & Bowl, El Primero Boutique Hotel, Living Coast Discovery Center, Profil Institute for Clinical Research, Spirit Printing Services, Inc., Zytech LED US, ARYA Cleaners, Algert Engineering and Walmart.

Do you know of a business in Chula Vista that could benefit from participating in the free ongoing CLEAN Business program? Contact the Chula Vista CLEAN Team at  www.chulavistaca.gov/clean
