Over 40,000 votes were tallied and the winner is in. Congratulations to the Ocean Discovery Institute for becoming the 2012 ECO Ambassador People’s Choice Award winner and earning a $25,000 grant from SDG&E.
The People’s Choice Award is a part of the larger ECO Ambassadors campaign, a collaborative partnership between The San Diego River Park Foundation, SDG&E, and CBS8. The partnership aims to build regional environmental awareness by educating and engaging San Diegans on innovative environmental programs that positively impact the San Diego region.
The online voting campaign kicked-off on November 16 and highlighted eight local environmental nonprofit organizations that were competing for the coveted titled and $25,000 grand prize.

All eight organizations were also a 2012 SDG&E Environmental Champion, a charitable giving campaign that recognizes local environmental non-profit organizations that engage and educate young people in the community as stewards of the environment.
This fall, SDG&E presented grants to all winning organizations. The photo slideshow features some of the presentations with local non-profits groups that are doing such wonderful work in the community.
