In response to the California Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) approval today for SDG&E to resume helicopter operations on San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E) Sunrise Powerlink project, the company has issued the following statement from Michael R. Niggli, president and chief operating officer of SDG&E:
“SDG&E is pleased to have received approval to resume helicopter activities on the Sunrise Powerlink project. The swift resumption of activities was made possible due to collaborative discussions with the CPUC and SDG&E’s proactive and sustained efforts to meet the helicopter safety requirements, as outlined by the CPUC.
“Safety continues to be the number one priority for SDG&E in all of our operations. Our company remains committed to improving and maintaining safe construction practices, so that we can complete this project in the second half of 2012 and begin delivering clean, reliable energy to our customers.”
