New Choice in Natural Gas Rate For Property Managers and HOAs (Gas rate for common area use)

A recent decision by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) now gives you a choice for your natural gas rate for common use areas.

Previously, your common area such as a pool, recreation room or clubhouse could only be billed under the residential single-family rate of GR. Now you have the option to switch to SDG&E’s commercial GN-3 rate.

Other Differences to Consider

There are other differences between the residential and commercial gas rates that could affect your decision.

• Residential customers have 19 days before their bill is past due compared to 15 days for commercial.
• Residential customers don't have a monthly service charge or late payment charges.
• With commercial service, there’s a $10 monthly service charge and any late payments can incur charges.
