
John Sowers is vice president of generation and resource planning for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E).
As vice president of generation and resource planning, Sowers is responsible for generation assets, along with asset management & smart grid projects, and the resource planning function for SDG&E.
Sowers joined the Sempra Energy family of companies in 2002 as a turbine fleet manager for Sempra Generation and held various management roles including director of plant operations at Mesquite Power and vice president of asset management, and operations west for Sempra U.S. Gas & Power.
Before joining Sempra Energy, Sowers mobilized power plants for Mirant, managed service agreements for General Electric’s Power Systems Division, and was a test engineer for Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.
Sowers has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Thomas Edison State College and a certificate in finance from Harvard Business School’s Executive Education program.
