San Diego Gas & Electric's Clean Transportation team invites you to the unveiling and ceremonial “plugging in” of a newly converted Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). In addition to the PHEV unveiling, view the transformation of a second standard hybrid electric vehicle into a Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

In response to increasing interest by our customers, the Clean Transportation Program is evaluating electric transportation alternatives for the future. PHEVs are part of the new, clean technology that will also allows owners to help power their cars by plugging into a standard 110v outlet. Currently, PHEVs are only available as after-market conversions, but may be available commercially as soon as 2009.

9:30am to 10:00am

  • Welcome remarks, special presentations and the unveiling and ceremonial “plugging in” of a newly converted plug-in hybrid electric vehicle

10:00am – 12:00pm

Activities include:

  • Tour of the EcoCenter and the grand opening of SDG&E’s exhibit on Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs)
  • PHEV Workshop – Overview of the PHEV conversion kit
  • Demonstration of both of SDG&E’s operational PHEV conversions
  • Refreshments will be served
