Environment

We are committed to protecting the environment. We favor programs that are educational in nature; that promote recycling and conservation; and that lead to a deeper understanding of what citizens can do to protect our natural resources.

 SDG&E’s Planet Earth Express

» Delivering Educational Experience To Classrooms

In partnership with the Birch Aquarium at Scripps, SDG&E's "Planet Earth Express" hits the streets of San Diego daily delivering environmental education curriculum to underserved schools and community centers countywide. The Planet Earth Express van is specially modified, incorporating sea water tanks, aerators, and pumps to safely transport living marine animals from its Aquarium program to enrich classroom science programs.

SAN DIEGO REGIONAL FIRE & EMERGENCY SERVICES FOUNDATION

» Supporting our Volunteer Fire Departments

San Diego County faces one of the highest risks from wildfires of any area in the nation, and 60 percent of the county's rural areas are served by volunteer fire fighting departments. Each year, SDG&E partners with the Foundation to raise monies which are distributed to local volunteer agencies for the purchase of valuable life-saving equipment and training. Safety is a number one priority for SDG&E and when a fire or accident occurs, the community depends on these agencies—and especially these volunteers—to do their best to save lives, land and property.

  CALIFORNIA COASTAL CLEAN-UP DAYS

» Helping to Keep Our Coasts and Communities Clean

Over the years hundreds of SDG&E employees have participated in the annual statewide effort to keep California’s shorelines and coasts clean. Employees volunteer at various sites throughout San Diego including beaches, bays, lakes, rivers, canyons, creeks and streams. They pick up trash to help protect and restore the health of the state's waterways.
