Are You Ready For Solar?

Using energy from the power of the sun along with making your home as energy efficient as possible can help you save a significant amount on your energy bill.

Getting Ready – Is Your Home Energy Efficient?

Did you know that making your home energy efficient is one of the first steps we recommend before installing a solar energy system?

Once your home is as energy efficient as possible, you won’t need as many solar panels installed, which could help save you money.

Steps to Energy Efficiency

  • Use the Home Energy Survey to help find energy and money savings in your home.  Provide details about your home, appliances and energy use habits to build an Action Plan with energy-saving actions that are suitable for you and your home.

    • Log in to My Account, click the "My Energy" tab and then "How Does My Home Use Energy?" to get started.

  • Perform an energy check-up to see what changes you may need to make to your home. Take our Energy Efficiency Survey

  • Swap out incandescent bulbs for compact fluorescent lights (CFLs).

  • Weather-proof your house so you aren’t wasting energy from escaping heating or air-conditioning.

Local, State and Federal Incentives

You may also qualify for local, state and federal incentives available for those interested in adding a solar energy system to their home. Also, the government offers personal tax deductions for interest paid on loans used to purchase solar energy systems.

Adding solar to your home helps the environment by using the sun’s source of renewable energy that’s clean and produces no waste.
