The SDG&E “Right Tree, Right Place” Program recommends the following trees, which include a variety of textures and forms, providing several options for a range of landscape styles.

Do you want to reduce energy use by planting a shade tree near your home? Evergreen trees provide year-round shade and color.

While deciduous trees (that drop their leaves in the fall) provide shade to cool your home in the summer and allow sunlight to help lower heating costs in the winter. Plant deciduous trees on the south and/or west side of the house.

SDG&E and all electric utilities in California are required to prune or clear vegetation close to energized electrical equipment, structures and high-voltage power lines for public safety and electric system reliability.

SDG&E performs regular power line tree safety activities in accordance with industry standards, guidelines and acceptable procedures that help to reduce widespread outages or fire caused by overgrowth of trees or other vegetation.

Process by which a random sample of contractor work is field reviewed for completion and data accuracy by a trained and experienced auditor.

Chemical Pole Brushing
Work activity within the pole brushing maintenance cycle where contractor conducts both chemical assessment and chemical application on approved SDG&E poles.  This activity normally occurs in the late fall and winter months.
