Using energy from the power of the sun along with making your home as energy efficient as possible can help you save a significant amount on your energy bill.
Getting Ready – Is Your Home Energy Efficient?
Did you know that making your home energy efficient is one of the first steps we recommend before installing a solar energy system?
Once your home is as energy efficient as possible, you won’t need as many solar panels installed, which could help save you money.
The California Solar Initiative (CSI) is the solar rebate program for California consumers that are a part of SDG&E's service terrritory.
Together with the New Solar Homes Partnership rebate program and other rebate programs offered through publicly owned utilities - the CSI program is a key component of the Go Solar California! campaign which encourages Californians to install 3,000 megawatts of solar energy systems by the end of 2016.
Today, many people want to make their homes and businesses more energy efficient. But they also may be a little hesitant to fully pursue green building since they may have misconceptions about sustainability. Following are some common myths – and facts – about going green:
Myth #1: Green building is only for environmentalists.
Our award-winning Sustainable Communities Program (SCP) advances the use of clean energy generation technologies within our service area.
The program strategically integrates utility-owned generation systems, such as photovoltaics and advanced energy storage, within sustainable building projects to provide energy to the grid. All of the systems are maintained and operated by SDG&E.
To make a smart decision about which rate you should be on, we encourage you to perform a simple self-analysis of your regular energy usage.
You can do this by reading your electric meter at 11 a.m., then again at 6 p.m. and subtract the first reading from the second reading. The end result will show a positive number (how much energy you using) or a negative number (the excess energy sent back to the grid).
