Savings By Design encourages high-performance nonresidential building design and construction. The program is organized around two approaches to maximizing energy efficiency.
This is the preferred method of achieving energy savings because optimal energy solutions are possible when the interactions of a building’s lighting, mechanical, envelope and other systems are truly integrated.
A project built with an integrated design strategy may qualify for financial incentives of up to $150,000 for the building owner and up to $50,000 for the design team.
This simplified method of achieving energy savings encourages designers to consider how each building system can be designed to achieve greater efficiency as a whole rather than as a collection of individual components.
A project built under the Systems Approach may qualify for an owner incentive of up to $150,000.
