Awards and Recognition

Our award-winning Sustainable Communities Program (SCP) advances the use of clean energy generation technologies within our service area.

The program strategically integrates utility-owned generation systems, such as photovoltaics and advanced energy storage, within sustainable building projects to provide energy to the grid. All of the systems are maintained and operated by SDG&E.

U.S. Green Building Council Leadership Award

In November 2008, our SCP was awarded the U.S. Green Building Council leadership award in the “Community” category. This prestigious award honors individuals or organizations that practice the best sustainable building activities in the nation.

The Leadership Awards recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that signify vision, leadership and commitment to green building design and construction. Awards are presented in six categories including Community, Education, LEED, Organizational Excellence, Research and Advocacy.
