Powering the Future

We are planning for our region’s future energy needs.

To remain prepared for the changing energy needs of our region, SDG&E is periodically required by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to develop a Regional Energy Plan.

This plan is intended to serve as a roadmap, which guides us in the fulfillment of our commitment to provide safe and reliable energy for the region.

SDG&E developed our most recent plan in 2008, and we anticipate that the CPUC will ask us to develop a new plan within a year or two. As SDG&E receives more information about planning guidelines from the CPUC, we will update this website.

“We’ve been steadily building a mix of resources to keep pace with our customers’ growing demand for energy,” says Debra Reed, SDG&E president and chief executive officer.

“Our energy resource plan for providing reliable service to the region will include helping customers reduce their energy use, adding more renewable energy, lining up new energy supplies and increasing our capacity to deliver energy.”
