About Your Charts: Net Energy Usage

Energy Charts for Customers Who Produce Power

If you produce electricity using solar or wind power, Energy Charts allow you to track your net energy usage.

Net energy usage is the difference between what you produce and what you receive from the utility.

  • When you produce more electricity than you receive, bars appear below the zero line. This excess results in net generation.
  • When you produce less electricity than you receive, bars appear above the zero line. This pattern is described as net consumption.

The Power of Energy Charts

In addition to the standard views, Energy Charts also allows you to view your net energy in 15-minute intervals for more detailed analysis.

For example, let’s say on the daily view, you see that the bar is above the line, meaning that you produced less power than you received for the day. As you drill down to the hourly or 15-minute views, you may discover that there were some times when you generated more than you received. Using these charts, you can start to obtain insights into your energy usage and generation.
