About Your Charts: Missing and Estimated Data

From Your Meter to Energy Charts

Your energy data is typically sent from your meter to your chart on a daily basis but sometimes there may be communication problems. When this happens, you may notice estimated or missing data in your charts.

Filling in the Gaps

To fill in the gaps, energy data may be estimated based on historical use from the last two weeks.

  • In the Week, Month and Year views, estimated data is indicated by a gray diamond above top of the bar. The diamond means that there is estimated data but does not provide any detailed information.

  • For specific information about estimated data, how much and when it occurred, click to the Day view. The estimated data is presented as gray bars.

Retrieving Your Data

If data is estimated or missing, we attempt to retrieve it several times. After data is received from your meter, your estimated information is updated with actual usage information.

Once we confirm that your data has been received, Energy Charts will be updated. Your estimated data will be replaced by your actual data within a couple of days.

  • The diamond will disappear in the week, month and year views
  • The gray bars in the day view will be replaced by blue bars

When it is not possible to estimate data, the chart may show gaps. We are continuing to improve communications between your meter and charts to avoid data estimates and gaps in the data being displayed.
