Energy Alerts Help You Avoid Surprises on Your Upcoming Bill

Energy alerts are a great way to keep tabs on your energy expenses. We use your energy usage data to estimate your charges and calculate a projected bill to help you manage your monthly energy costs. 

Your projected bill is based the following estimated charges as applicable to your account.

CCA Electric Generation

Charges for the electricity that you used. Your electricity is bought or generated by your Community Choice Aggregator (CCA).

SDG&E Electric Delivery

Charges for delivering electricity to you location, as well as other services including billing, customer care services, and maintaining and modernizing infrastructure. 

SDG&E Gas Charges
(as applicable)

Charges for the cost of the natural gas you used as well as costs of delivering the natural gas to your location.

CCA electric generation costs are calculated using SDG&E electric generation costs as a proxy and do not reflect actual CCA costs.

State, Taxes & Other charges are included in the estimated charges above.

 

SDG&E Electric Delivery

Charges for the cost of electricity used, along with costs for owning, operating, and maintaining the transmission and distribution facilities to deliver power to customers.

SDG&E Gas Charges

Charges for the cost of the natural gas used, along with the costs of delivering natural gas to customers.

State, Taxes & Other charges are included in the estimated charges above.

Under the Account navigation tab, select Notification Settings to update your Energy Alert preferences.

  • Select to receive the alert on a weekly basis  or,
  • Set a spending threshold  with a dollar amount

After receiving the alert, here are some additional ways to better understand your upcoming energy bill and usage.

First, log in to My Account or the SDG&E mobile app. Next, explore one or more of these options:

Go online to check "How You're Doing So Far..." It's updated daily. 

On the homepage, scroll to the new How you’re doing so far section. It’s updated daily with a breakdown of your estimated charges to date as well as your latest projected bill. Log in once a week to see how your estimated charges and projections change based on your usage.

Log in to view your usage trends.

Click the Usage tab to better understand how much energy you use and when. View your usage by month, day or hour. Understanding how and when you use energy may help you identify ways to save energy and lower your bill.
